In Living Color

Jeans & Belt: The Foreign Exchange
Necklace: Forever 21
Bracelet: E bay
Clutch: Yard Sale :o
Shoes: Charlotte Russe

I just adore this 80s denim jacket! Yesterday, I went to the thrift store and spotted this fabulous piece. As soon as I saw it, I had a moment. The type of moment when you see something that makes your heart skip a beat; and you say to yourself, "I have to have it"! While literally running to it. Yeah! That moment. I didn't care whether or not it was too large, or too small. I just knew I was going to make it work, and for five dollars it was perfect.

Usually when wearing a bold statement piece like this, I often tend to wear something reasonably plain with it. So I opted for a pair of dark blue high waist jeans I got from the foreign exchange along with the belt, and paired it with a bright colored crop top.

If you're like me in anyway, then you would feel completely naked without accessories. So by adding an insanely dope necklace, an out of this world bracelet and a fierce clutch. I thought this would definitely give my outfit the vintage-ish look that I'm going for.

I felt extra confident wearing this gorgeous denim jacket. I thought, of course its appropriate to wear a pair of bold heels to match. So, I dug deep in my closet pulling out a studded pair of heels (That I had forever!) to complete this ensemble. Then I was good to go.

Ha! Don't I look like I could be one of the chicks from the early 90's television show, "In Living Color". Till next time!

Keep it Street!

I would like to officially introduce myself. My name is Star Mathis (S.), and I am 20 and some change presently shining bright in California. This month, will not only mark the beginning of a fresh new year. It will also be the launch of my official fashion blog.

Over the top, is the best way to define my styling technique. As a self-proclaimed self-stylist with a relatable eye, I feel as though it's my duty to mix up the status quo. Here at The Street Heart Effect, I will document my inventiveness, inspiration, beauty knowledge and style brilliance.

Expressing my love for fashion and turning my vision into a wearable art. Is the reason why I continue to push myself, daring myself to become fashions new fresh. Its also the reason why I created, The Street Heart Effect. To shake things up a little and enthuse those that are along for the ride.

No matter what was told to you in the past. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder its in the hands of your stylist.

Keep it street!!
